🏰 D'Auvenay Bourgogne Aligote Sous Chatelet 2004 is a 【rare and iconic Aligoté from Lalou Bize-Leroy】, showcasing her meticulous biodynamic farming and low yields to elevate this often-overlooked grape into a wine of remarkable aromatic precision, mineral tension, and surprising longevity, especially from the attractive 2004 white 布根地 vintage. The 2004 white Burgundy vintage had a much better reputation than the reds, producing attractive wines with good ripeness, perfect acidity balance, and fine aromatics.
Expect a wine that has developed beautifully, offering a pale gold hue with evolving aromas of honey, nuts, and perhaps a hint of mushroom, while retaining its inherent freshness, citrus, and linden notes, along with a pleasant liveliness and firmness on the palate.
🍴 This unique Aligoté is versatile, pairing well with seafood, sushi and sashimi, grilled fish, oysters, and strong goat cheeses. It also complements cold meats, asparagus in cream sauce, or traditional 布根地 dishes like gougères.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a connoisseur's tasting, a special occasion celebrating rarity, or as a thoughtful gift for a serious wine collector.
Serving suggestion: For this 2004 vintage, serve at 11-12°C (51-53°F). While Aligoté is often enjoyed young, a D'Auvenay of this age will benefit from a short decanting (15-30 minutes) to allow its complex tertiary aromas to unfold. Be mindful of the cork and capsule, as older wines can be more delicate.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
