FEATURES
J-M Sélèque's Soliste Pinot Noir 1er Cru Les Gayères 2020 is a remarkable single-vineyard Champagne, a testament to the unique terroir of Pierry. This 100% Pinot Noir expression hails from the 'Les Gayères' plot, planted in 1974, known for its west-facing slope and distinctive silty clays loaded with flint and limestone. The wine undergoes 100% aging in oak barrels (350-600 liters) for 10 months and then spends four years aging under natural cork for 75cl bottles, culminating in an Extra Brut style with a low dosage of 1.5g/L. It is truly 【a dream spot for fine Pinots full of freshness, showcasing the identity, quality, and specificity of the terroir】.
On the nose, expect an attractive bouquet of raspberries, strawberries, marmalade, toast, and walnuts, alongside earthy, dark, and mineral notes. The palate is richly flavorful, toasty, and broad-shouldered, with a full body, fine bubbles, and a long, structured, dry finish. Tasting notes also reveal aromas of cherries, almonds, and peach cobbler, with a medium body and tangy acidity. Further complexities include citrus, lemon, orange, honey, smoke, baked apple, dried flowers, cream, and a smooth, smoky acidity.
This complex and traditional sparkling wine is an excellent pairing for shellfish, crab, and lobster. Its Pinot Noir character also makes it suitable for poultry, lighter game, or mushroom-based dishes.
The J-M Sélèque Soliste Pinot Noir 1er Cru Les Gayères 2020 is an exciting and special character wine, ideal for connoisseurs and those seeking a unique expression of grower Champagne. It's perfect for a sophisticated dinner or a focused tasting event, and while enjoyable now, it also possesses the structure for further aging.
