FEATURES
Clandestin's Les Semblables Boréal Brut Nature 2022 is a captivating expression from the Aube region in southern Champagne, a project led by Benoit Doussot. This 100% Pinot Noir Champagne is sourced exclusively from north-facing, mid-slope vineyards with Kimmeridgian limestone soils, reflecting a unique terroir. The 2022 vintage, a hot year, yielded juicy, succulent fruit, with harvest occurring around August 20. It undergoes fermentation with indigenous yeasts and ages on lees for 15 months in oak barrels, followed by a minimum of 24 months before disgorgement. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with no added sulphites, it is a true Brut Nature. 【 A distinctive Blanc de Noirs (100% Pinot Noir) from north-facing Kimmeridgian limestone vineyards in the Côte des Bar, showcasing austere rigor with ripe fruit and saline freshness. 】
This young and vibrant Champagne displays a straw yellow color with delicate apricot reflections and a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is complex, offering aromas of sourdough crust, salted hazelnuts, green almonds, citrus zest (cedro, candied orange), tart lingonberries, and a distinct maritime salinity. On the palate, it delivers a juicy, slightly red-fruited richness with a creamy texture and finely beaded mousse. The finish is puristic and taut, with gripping, precise minerality, combining austere rigor with open, ripe fruit. Expect elegant notes of green apple, delicate citrus peel, ripe pear, honey, and subtle toasted hazelnuts.
Food pairing suggestions include fresh oysters, pan-seared scallops, pink-roasted duck breast, and other seafood and white meats. It also pairs well with stews and hotpots, pork, rich fish, and mild cheeses.
This Champagne is an excellent aperitif and a lovely choice to pair with a variety of dishes. Its precise balance and freshness make it an ideal selection for those who appreciate detailed nuances in a high-quality Champagne.
