FEATURES
The 2024 Burgundy vintage was notably challenging, characterized by persistent rainfall, mildew, hail, and limited sunshine, resulting in exceptionally small yields. Despite these difficulties, meticulous producers managed to craft classically styled, fresh, and terroir-expressive wines. Reds, though in tiny quantities, are described as delicious, offering perfume, tension, and lower alcohol levels. Arnaud Lopez, with extensive experience at prestigious Burgundian estates like Domaine Prieuré Roch, focuses on biodynamic farming and minimal intervention, showcasing the nobility of Pinot Noir outside traditional appellation frameworks. 【Arnaud Lopez's dedication to biodynamic farming and minimal intervention highlights the true essence of Pinot Noir from unique chalky soils.】
This Maison Pinot Noar Craies (rouge) is a Vin de France cuvée, deriving its name from the chalky soils of the Mâconnais, which impart finesse and tension to the Pinot Noir. Arnaud Lopez crafts a slender, luminous red, employing whole bunch fermentation with indigenous yeasts and no added sulfur. It undergoes gentle pigeage and is aged in used barrels (2-3 years old) without new oak to preserve fruit and chalky freshness, bottled without clarification or filtration. Tasting notes reveal aromas of cherry, redcurrant, peony, and a distinct chalky note. The wine is crisp and refined, with red fruit supported by delicate tannins and pronounced acidity. The finish is strikingly crisp and fresh, with fruity notes and a salty aftertaste. The 2024 vintage shows delicate wines, with notes of wild berries and dried rose, offering notable depth and expressive character despite a lighter body than previous vintages.
🍴 This wine is superb with roast Bresse poultry, rich meat sauces, and glazed vegetables. Its finesse beautifully complements poultry, while its structure enhances the flavors of sauces. It's also perfect with roast quail, pepper sauce, and celery purée. General pairings for light and perfumed red Pinot Noir include chicken and turkey.
🥂 Ideal for those who appreciate cooler, fresher styles of Burgundy that are enjoyable in their youth. This versatile red is suitable for a casual dinner with friends or a more refined meal, offering a transparent expression of its terroir rather than overt power.
