FEATURES
Jérémy Recchione, a dynamic winemaker, has been making waves in Burgundy since 2017, initially focusing on organic wines and then moving towards almost sulfur-free production from 2018. He's known for pushing boundaries with ceramic vats and low-sulfur methods, and his wines are increasingly confident in character. The 2023 vintage in Côte de Nuits-Villages is noted for producing pleasant, juicy wines, though not exceptionally distinguished. Overall, 2023 was one of the hottest years on record in Burgundy, yet it saw average rainfall, resulting in a generous crop. The Côte de Nuits specifically received more rainfall in July, contributing to moderate alcohol levels, typically between 13-13.5% abv. The 'Les Essards' plot, located near Comblanchien, is particularly limestone-driven, imparting minerality and a linear, vertical structure to the wine, which bodes well for aging. Recchione's commitment to sustainable and natural winemaking, including his sulfite-free cuvées, has garnered significant attention, positioning him as a promising talent in Burgundy.
This red Burgundy displays a bright ruby colour with intense aromas of wild cherry, liquorice, and mild spices, evolving into notes of undergrowth and mushroom. On the palate, it offers an excellent balance of tannin, acidity, and a velvety texture, with an aftertaste reminiscent of small red berries. Expect flavours of ripe red and black berries, showcasing excellent ripeness and a smooth, long, complex finish. There are also hints of small red berries and a touch of earthy spice. The wine is characterized by a juicy style, abundant fruit, refined tannins, and not overly high acidity. 【Sulphite-free cuvées and natural winemaking approach】
🍴 This versatile wine pairs wonderfully with beef, veal, poultry, and game. Specific suggestions include tartare, charcuterie, and lamb. Grilled pork chops, a charcuterie board, or wild boar rillette would also be excellent matches.
🥂 Perfect for a relaxed date night, a family dinner, or as an enjoyable after-dinner drink. While delicious now, it has the potential to age beautifully for the next 2-5 years. It's a lovely wine to enjoy in its youth.
