FEATURES
The 2008 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne is celebrated for its breathtaking textural finesse and elegance, showcasing phenomenal balance and harmony. Antonio Galloni of Vinous rated it 97 points, describing it as a model of finesse and understatement that, even at nearly 10 years of age, remained bright, precise, and very fresh. The 2008 vintage itself is described as "classic," reminiscent of the 1970s, with a rainy spring followed by a stable summer, allowing for excellent maturation and a unique balance of acid and tannin. This Barolo is a blend of Nebbiolo from several vineyards in Barolo (Vignane) and Monforte d'Alba (Ceretta and Conterni), with a little less Vignane fruit in 2008 due to hail. It offers an ethereal character with notes of small-berry jam, cherry preserved in spirits, dried apricot, dried roses, pepper, vanilla, dried mushrooms, leather, and white truffles. The palate is complex, vibrant, and still young, with sweet red berries, flowers, mint, and spices woven together with total refinement, supported by silky tannins and fresh acidity. Anticipated maturity is 2016-2028.
Serving Advice: For a Barolo of this age (2008), it's advisable to handle it with care. Stand the bottle upright for at least 24-48 hours before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Decanting for 1-2 hours is recommended to allow the wine to open up and express its complex aromas, but be mindful of older corks and capsules which can be fragile. Serve at around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
🍴 Food Pairing: This Barolo is a superb match for rich, savory dishes. Consider traditional Piedmontese cuisine like truffle-infused pasta, slow-braised beef, game meats, or aged hard cheeses.
🥂 Fit for Event: An exceptional choice for a milestone celebration, a serious wine tasting, or a luxurious dinner where the wine is the star. Its elegance and complexity make it a contemplative wine for connoisseurs. 【Antonio Galloni 97-point rating for its breathtaking textural finesse and elegance】
