The 2005 Magpie Estate The Malcolm Shiraz is a highly acclaimed "cult" Shiraz, known for its powerful and rich style, only released in the finest vintages and in small volumes. This particular vintage, rated 94-96 points by Robert Parker, spent 12 months in new American oak and another 12 months in new French 500-liter puncheons. It's celebrated for its incredible longevity, with good cellaring allowing it to age gracefully for 20 years or even longer.
The nose presents hugely ripe fruit aromas of black cherry and plum, complemented by toasty mocha oak, liquorice, and spice. Robert Parker noted an inky/blue/purple color with hints of creosote, blueberry liqueur, violets, and camphor. The palate is rich, textured, and velvety, full-bodied with super-ripe tannins, making it voluptuous and enjoyable even in its youth.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions include hearty dishes like beef and venison.
🥂 This powerful and long-lived Shiraz is perfectly suited for special occasions, celebratory dinners, or for collectors looking to add a significant Australian icon to their cellar. 【 Robert Parker 94-96 points and known for its longevity of 20+ years 】
