FEATURES
Domaine des Lambrays, now part of the LVMH group, is celebrated for its Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru, often cited as one of the top five Grands Crus in the Côte d'Or. The estate is committed to sustainable and authentic viticulture, having rapidly converted to ECOCERT-certified organic and biodynamic practices. The 2023 vintage saw precise picking decisions to avoid overripeness, with red grapes harvested between September 7th and 14th. The new gravity-flow winery, operational since the 2022 vintage, ensures gentle handling. The 2023 is described as "fabulously expressive," a blend of 11 different cuvées, with a significant portion of old vines planted in 1935 and 1898.
The 2023 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru exhibits remarkable freshness, layering dark fruits over subtle red raspberry, with a reserved nose that opens to an exceptionally silky palate. Expect sweet spice, lift, and beautifully integrated tannins, culminating in impressive length, tension, and precision. The bouquet is very expressive, showcasing ebullient red berry fruit, tobacco, forest floor, and subtle ceps aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers fine yet firm tannins, fanning out to a sapid finish with a liberal sprinkling of black pepper. Floral notes of lilac, violet, and rose petal add elegance to the black cherry liqueur scents.
Food pairing suggestions: This Grand Cru is an exquisite match for sophisticated dishes such as duck, goose, and various game birds. It also complements classic red meat preparations like veal, lamb, and roasted chicken, as well as rich fish courses like tuna.
Event suggestions: A truly special wine for milestone celebrations, a connoisseur's tasting event, or an intimate dinner where the wine itself is the star. Its profound complexity and significant aging potential make it a wine to be savored and remembered. 【One of the five top Grands Crus of the Côte d'Or, known for remarkable complexity and freshness, with a new gravity-flow winery and organic practices】.
