FEATURES
The 2021 vintage for Rossignol-Trapet's La Petite Chapelle Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru experienced some frost damage in Burgundy, though less severe than in 2016. The winery, known for its biodynamic farming practices, adapted by applying small, regular doses throughout the growing season. Despite a smaller harvest, ripeness was successfully achieved, with picking commencing in late September to early October. Rossignol-Trapet, a 35-acre domain, is a family affair with a rich history rooted in the Trapet and Rossignol families, now expertly managed by Nicolas Rossignol.
This red wine offers a fresh and bright profile, with subtle earthy and floral undertones that broaden the pure red Pinot fruit aromas. It boasts a lovely texture and outstanding intensity, with moderately concentrated, middleweight flavours brimming with mineral nuances, all framed by notably fine-grained tannins. The finish is beautifully complex. Expect a mid-purple colour and a nose of plumper fruit and concentrated dark cherries. The wine exhibits a fine and balanced structure, stylish and persistent, though it may be a little tight in its youth. Tasting notes also highlight a savoury and structured character, with chalky minerality weaving through dark berry fruit in a spicier, more savoury style. Its refined tannins and taut acidity contribute to both immediate appeal and excellent aging potential. Further descriptors include direct, precise berry notes, a slightly darker red hue, less tobacco and more creaminess, along with a larger scale, energy, and intensity, making it ultra-delicious and finely complex.
🍴 This Premier Cru pairs wonderfully with roast duck, various mushroom dishes, or a peppercorn-crusted steak. Beyond traditional meat and cheese pairings, its inherent sweetness also makes it a surprisingly delightful accompaniment to fruit or chocolate desserts, or even gingerbread ice cream.
🥂 With its immediate appeal and significant aging potential, this wine is perfectly suited for special dinners or occasions where an elegant and complex red Burgundy is desired. 【Outstanding intensity and beautifully complex finish】
