FEATURES
The 2023 vintage in Bourgogne has surpassed expectations, with good volumes and quality despite unstable summer weather. Jean-Marie Guffens considers 2023 an "absolutely top-notch" rendition of the Mâcon-Pierreclos Tri de Chavigne. This 100% Chardonnay is widely hailed as one of the vintage's greatest expressions, crafted from meticulously timed, multiple selective harvest passes (tris) across old vines in the limestone-rich slopes of Pierreclos. The wine is matured in oak barrels, with a portion of new oak. 【One of the finest renditions of this cuvée ever tasted】. William Kelley of Wine Advocate describes it as one of the finest renditions he's ever tasted from Jean-Marie Guffens, bursting with aromas of peach and pear mingled with white flowers, beeswax, toasted almonds, and honey. It is medium to full-bodied, dense, and concentrated, rich yet chiseled, with a bright spine of acidity, chalky structuring extract, and a long, searingly mineral finish. Decanter notes intense concentration with ripe melon, quince, and apricots brushed with honey, and a rich texture balanced by a pleasant, slightly bitter phenolic character. It offers supple orchard fruits, tropical and spicy notes, tensile citrus, creamy lees, and smoky wood. This superb effort already offers pleasure but will undoubtedly grow with 5 or so years in bottle.
🍴 Food Pairing: This vibrant white Burgundy is versatile. It pairs beautifully with salads, seafood, grilled fish, and poultry. For a more specific pairing, consider pan-seared scallops with a lemon-butter sauce (Western) or steamed fish with ginger and spring onion (Eastern).
🥂 Event Suggestions: Ideal for a sophisticated lunch, a summer garden party, or as an aperitif to impress discerning guests. Its expressive nature also makes it suitable for wine tasting events focused on high-quality Mâconnais wines.
