FEATURES
Domaine d'Eugénie is the reincarnation of the famous Domaine Angela, acquired in 2005 by Frédéric Engerer, managing director of Château Latour, and oenologist Michel Mallard. This new stewardship led to significant improvements, including vineyard reconstruction, vine replacement, and a sharp reduction in yield to ensure the highest quality grapes, even in challenging years. The cellars were also refurbished to create ideal conditions for winemaking and storage. This Vosne-Romanée is crafted from 30-year-old Pinot Noir vines, with grapes meticulously collected and sorted by hand. After traditional fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 15 months, with 80% of them updated annually. The 2008 vintage was estimated to be at its peak ripeness between 2012-2016, but possesses high potential for storage and can continue to develop in the bottle for many years.
This wine presents a rich ruby color. The bouquet opens with fresh notes of black currant and wild berries, complemented by lighter tones of violet and oak. On the palate, it offers a juicy, refreshing acidity and a slightly sweet, rich flavor, intertwining tones of ripe cherries and strawberries. A special piquancy comes from the aftertaste, which develops light nuances of oak and minerals. Critics have noted a beautiful spice-filled aroma and sexy, pure red cherry, with abundant red and black cherry notes alongside savory Asian five spice. While still slightly backward, it shows a lot of power and good weight, benefiting from decanting or more time open. 【Reincarnation of the famous Domaine Angela, now under the stewardship of Château Latour's managing director.】
🍴 Food Pairing: This Vosne-Romanée perfectly complements hot Neapolitan dishes, foie gras, lamb on a spit, steak, and other dishes of red meat and game. Hard cheese and Parma ham are ideal appetizers. It also pairs well with duck, goose, and game birds, and its acidity benefits from food.
🥂 Event Suggestions: With its high potential for storage and development, this wine is suitable for special occasions or for those who appreciate a mature, complex red Burgundy. It is very good now, with potential for further upside, and would benefit from decanting to fully express its character.
