The 2000 vintage in Burgundy was generally very good, characterized by a mild winter, spring, and early summer, with August heat clearing a brief outbreak of rot in July. Domaine Georges Roumier is celebrated for crafting wines that beautifully balance power and elegance, often built for impressive longevity. The Clos de la Bussière is a distinctive 2.5-hectare walled Premier Cru monopole within Morey-Saint-Denis.
This 2000 Clos de la Bussière is currently drinking beautifully, offering a captivating bouquet of red berries, plums, mustard seed, coffee, earthy undertones, and a subtle hint of bonfire. On the palate, it is full-bodied, focused, and perfectly balanced, showcasing a sweet core of fruit, melting tannins, and vibrant, tangy acidity that leads to a long, complex finish. Expect bright red and black cherry notes, alongside a mature character and a meaty core, with nuances of forest floor.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir is a superb match for classic East/West pairings such as roast duck, goose, or other game birds.
🥂 This wine is truly a stunning example of graceful maturity, having aged wonderfully. It's an ideal choice for significant celebrations or a refined dinner party, proving that patience is indeed rewarded. 【A stunning example of graceful maturity from a monopole Premier Cru vineyard】.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Georges Roumier is a wine producer based in the Côte de Nuits village of Chambolle-Musigny that produces some of the most expensive, best-rated and most popular wines in Burgundy. The winery did not purchase the land directly, but used the French sharecropper/lease system, in which individuals farmed the land for the owner in exchange for a certain percentage of agricultural products. Now, Christophe has taken over the work of the winery and has become the owner of the winery. The current winemaker of the village. He pays close attention to terroir, so little new oak is used, and fermentation temperatures are kept low to allow the wine’s delicious flavors and aromas to shine through.
