FEATURES
The 2023 Henri Perrot Minot Morey St Denis En La Rue de Vergy emerges from a Burgundy vintage praised for its rare combination of quality and quantity. 2023 was a straightforward growing season, yielding a plentiful crop of ripe fruit, and is described as a vintage of pure pleasure where all components – alcohol, acidity, tannin, and fruit – are in harmony. Despite being the warmest year on record, the summer was relatively cool, helping to preserve acidity. The red wines are notably concentrated without being over-ripe, showcasing aromatic purity and harmonious structure. They offer delightful balance with ripe red-fruit flavors, vibrant acidity, and refined, approachable tannins, often compared to 2017 but with added depth. This vintage is charming and offers pleasing ripeness for early to mid-term enjoyment. The "La Rue de Vergy" vineyard, a 1.5-hectare plot of 40-year-old vines, sits on shallow, stony limestone soils directly above the Grand Cru Clos de Tart. Winemaker Christophe Perrot-Minot employs partial whole-cluster inclusion (around 40% in 2023) and minimal extraction, with aging in French oak (20-25% new). Tasting notes highlight precise, floral-accented aromas of fresh dark cherry, wild raspberry, and violet, balanced by crushed limestone minerality and subtle savory spice. The palate is sleek, vibrant, and medium-bodied, with a pure core of ripe berry fruit framed by fine, chalky tannins and energetic acidity, leading to a clean, refined, and long finish. An elegant nose with ultra-pure notes of violets, red and blue Pinot fruit, and a discreet hint of wood is also characteristic. Expect a winning fleshy generosity to the mid-palate. Food Pairing: This charming red Burgundy pairs wonderfully with classic Pinot Noir pairings such as roasted duck, goose, and various game birds. It would also complement mushroom-based dishes or lighter red meat preparations. Event suggestions: 【 Aromatic purity and harmonious structure from a generous vintage 】 makes this wine ideal for dinner parties, casual gatherings, or as a versatile option for a relaxed evening. Its early drinkability and charming profile ensure immediate enjoyment.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Perrot Minot is headquartered in Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits region, north of Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Red wine is mainly made from Pinot Noir. The history of the winery can be traced back to the "Domaine Merme-Morizot" at the end of the 19th century. In 1993, it was taken over by Christophe Perrot-Minot, who acquired Domaine Pernin-Rossin and its assets in 2000. In 1999, the domaine also began a négociant business, producing wine from fruit from its partner vineyards, including several Grand Cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin. The winery produces wine from seven Grand Cru vineyards, the most famous of which is Chambertin, as well as a series of First Growth vineyards. Yields are strictly limited and green harvesting is done in specific plots, so some vines can only produce five bunches of grapes.
