FEATURES
The Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux is a legendary vineyard, famously brought back to prominence by Henri Jayer, and is considered Meo Camuzet's smallest yet most famous cuvée. The 2006 vintage for Burgundy was a classic year, with sound grapes achieving beautiful physical maturity, resulting in red wines of great sensuality, silky texture, and harmonious aging potential. Meo Camuzet itself expressed surprise at the depth and maturity of the vintage. This particular wine from Cros Parantoux is often described as an encounter with perfection. 【 An encounter with perfection 】 Tasting notes for the 2006 Cros Parantoux reveal a wine that is initially tight and reserved, with resolved tannins and a texture consistent with its age. With air, it can leap out of the glass with a fine velvety texture, dark chocolate notes, and the distinctive Vosne terroir. Expect an explosive, highly aromatic nose exuding black cherry, blackberry, and licorice. The palate is sweet yet imploded, with terrific mineral-driven acids providing a compelling juicy quality, still quite tightly wound but impressively long and firm. Floral notes of fresh-cut violets and potpourri, along with cinnamon and lifted red fruits, have also been observed. It's an opulent, engaging, and charming wine where concentration is balanced by elegance, and while acidity is often high, the initial impression is fat and smooth, giving a feeling of generosity. This wine is still a few years away from its prime drinking window and possesses very high aging potential, preserving its natural freshness for a long time. Its evolution is slow, with high acidity ensuring a smooth progression. Decanting for about an hour prior to serving can be beneficial to allow it to open up. Handle with care, as older corks can be fragile. Serve slightly below room temperature. 🍴 Food Pairing: This magnificent red Burgundy pairs exquisitely with beef, veal, poultry, and game such as venison. Consider a roasted rack of lamb, a rich beef tenderloin, or a sophisticated duck confit. 🥂 Event Suggestions: Ideal for a milestone celebration, a serious wine collector's dinner, or a contemplative evening where the wine is the star. Its profound complexity and aging capacity make it a truly special bottle for significant moments.
