FEATURES
The 2011 vintage in Burgundy was a challenging but ultimately rewarding year, especially for white wines. A warm spring and early flowering were followed by a cool, rainy summer with heat spikes and hail, particularly in the Côte de Beaune. However, conscientious growers were vigilant, and the harvest date was crucial for quality. The 2011 whites are characterized by wonderful purity, expressiveness, and aromatic appeal, with many wines finding balance in their slimness and offering masses of drinking appeal. They are generally elegant and pure, with moderate acidity and lower alcohol levels, making them suitable for early to mid-term drinking rather than long-term cellaring. The Méo-Camuzet Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2011 is a distinguished white wine from a respected producer known for crafting fine wines. Tasting notes for the 2011 Méo-Camuzet Corton-Charlemagne describe a bright pale yellow color with aromas and flavors of lemon curd, pie crust, butter, and golden apple, showing nice focus and penetrating intensity. It is considered a classic, combining ripeness and acidity, and has been consistently good to drink. 【This wine is a fine example of mature Burgundy, offering astonishing pleasure with its natural finesse and complexity.】 Serving Advice for Older Vintages: For a 2011 vintage, it's advisable to handle the bottle gently to avoid disturbing any sediment. Stand the bottle upright for at least 24 hours before serving. Decanting is recommended to allow the wine to breathe and to separate it from any potential sediment, but do so carefully and observe the wine's evolution. Use a Durand opener or a two-pronged cork puller for older corks to minimize the risk of breakage. Serve slightly chilled, around 12-14°C (54-57°F), to best appreciate its delicate aromas and flavors. 🍴 Food Pairing: This elegant Corton-Charlemagne pairs beautifully with rich fish like salmon or tuna, shellfish, pasta with cream sauces, and mild to soft cheeses. For an Eastern pairing, consider steamed fish with ginger and spring onion, or delicate dim sum. 🥂 Event Suggestions: An excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary, or a significant milestone celebration. It's also a superb wine for a connoisseur's tasting event or as a cherished addition to a fine wine collection.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Meo-Camuzet is located in the village of Vosne-Romanee, France. The estate employs organic fertilizers and advanced cultivation techniques to maintain ecological balance in the vineyards. Coupled with the exceptional terroir and the legacy of Henri Jayer, Jean-Nicholas' efforts have elevated the estate to a top-tier winery in just a few decades. In 2003, Jean-Nicholas founded the négociant business Méo-Camuzet Frères et Soeurs. Although the grapes are purchased, the team personally supervises the vineyards to ensure the quality of the grape sources.
