The 2022 vintage in Burgundy experienced uncertain weather conditions throughout the year, yet ultimately proved mild and favorable. The harvest, spanning from August 25 to September 16, yielded beautifully healthy grapes with varying degrees of ripeness. Overall, 2022 was a pleasant vintage, offering excellent quality and generous yields for both white and red wines. This particular Chorey-lès-Beaune is celebrated as an ideal, casual yet authentic red Burgundy at the village level.
This wine is characterized by fresh and lively strawberry aromas, a soft texture, and abundant fruit on the palate. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate notes inviting hints of cherries, sweet wild berries, smoke, and orange zest. The palate is medium to full-bodied and fleshy, with a generous core of fruit elegantly framed by sweet, powdery tannins. Vinous detects an intense nose with brambly red fruit, iodine, and a touch of peppermint. Wine Spectator highlights bright and airy notes of vanilla, sweet spices, strawberry, and cherry fruit. It offers a lovely smoothness and a spicy aftertaste, with distinct cherry flavors. Visually, it boasts a beautiful ruby red color, clear and brilliant, with rich aromas of small red and black fruits, complemented by elegant toasted notes and pleasant oakiness on the palate.
🍴 This versatile red Burgundy pairs wonderfully with roasted or marinated poultry, roasted or grilled beef, fine cured meats, and warm tarts. It's also excellent with French Camembert or Brie cheese, as well as veal and various game meats.
🥂 Most enjoyable when young and exuberant, this wine also possesses the structure to age gracefully for several years. Affectionately dubbed "the friends' wine," it's easy-drinking and lighter in alcohol, making it perfect for relaxed summer evenings and convivial meals. A vibrant red with a firm structure, it's ready to drink now and can be enjoyed through 2030. 【 An ideal casual yet authentic red Burgundy, nicknamed "the friends' wine" 】
