FEATURES
The 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté "Raisins Dorés" from Michel Lafarge hails from a domaine renowned for traditional, cellarworthy Burgundy, having embraced biodynamic viticulture since 1996. This particular cuvée is special, as "Raisins Dorés" refers to Aligoté Doré, an older, lower-yielding biotype of Aligoté that the Lafarge family has meticulously preserved. The vines, planted in 1937, are over 80 years old, making them among the rarest and oldest Aligoté plantings in Burgundy. The 2023 vintage in Burgundy is celebrated as a success, offering generosity without excess, akin to the 2020 and 2022 vintages, and fortunately, a substantial crop.
This white wine presents a lovely bouquet of pink grapefruit, apple, distinct minerality, dried flowers, and citrus peel. On the palate, it is deep, long, and full-bodied, characterized by bright acidity, excellent balance, and a vibrant, complex finish. Some tasters note spicy citrus confit, honeysuckle, and a hint of butter. It's described as precise and racy, with excellent ripeness and a spicy undertone, offering greater complexity and density than typical Aligoté while retaining its inherent freshness.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions: This is not a simple apéritif wine. It pairs beautifully with shellfish, pasta, rich fish like salmon or tuna, mild and soft cheeses, and cured meats.
🥂 Event suggestions: This is an excellent and highly recommended wine, considered a top value. It's a serious Aligoté that can comfortably stand alongside village Bourgogne whites, making it a superb choice for discerning palates or even a blind tasting.
