【Armand Rousseau's 2022 Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru is a 'Big Bear' of a wine, known for its powerful, brooding character and immense aging potential, hailing from one of Gevrey-Chambertin's northernmost Grand Crus.】 The 2022 vintage is described as having "energised raspberry fruit" and being "supremely ripe." Early barrel samples suggest it is "reserved and rather backward" and will require serious cellar time. This wine is deeper and more brooding than Clos de la Roche, unwinding with aromas of dark berries, orange zest, spices, and subtle hints of juniper berry. It can also present ripe red cherries, black cherry cordial, medicinal herbs, and warm charcoal notes. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered, and concentrated with an inky core of fruit and sweet, supple tannins. Other complex notes include dried roses, exotic spices, tobacco, old oak, mulberry, mushrooms, cigar box, truffles, ripe plum, red currant, strawberry, cherry, cranberry, black and red cherry, blue flowers, leather, and cinnamon. It possesses compact yet remarkably smooth tannins and high-toned acidity.

This powerful Grand Cru Pinot Noir is an excellent partner for braised dishes, rich red sauce pastas, roast white meats, or meaty fish. It also pairs beautifully with classic game birds like duck and goose.
🥂 fit for event suggestion
A wine for serious collectors and those with patience, ideal for a grand dinner in several years or decades, showcasing the pinnacle of Burgundy Pinot Noir. This is a very young Grand Cru that needs significant cellar time to develop its full potential, with some suggesting it will reward patience through 2065 and beyond. If consumed young, it requires substantial decanting (several hours) to allow its complex aromas and flavors to unfold. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
