FEATURES
The 2015 Macán is a remarkable expression from the prestigious joint venture between Tempos Vega Sicilia and Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild. This Rioja, crafted entirely from 100% Tempranillo grapes sourced from 40-year-old vines, represents a "neoclassical" style. The 2015 vintage was notably warm and dry, yet the wine maintains elegance and length thanks to careful vinification and aging for 12 months in new French oak, followed by further time in oak vats and almost three years in bottle.
Tasting notes reveal a dense red wine, agile and energetic, with gorgeous blackberry, dark chocolate, and hints of cedar, spice, and toasted chocolate. It offers a full to medium body with very long, polished textures, darker fruit, and an earthy touch. The palate is firm, refined, robust, and elegant, with silky tannins and balanced acidity, leading to a long, lingering, flavorful, spicy, and vibrant finish. Decanting for two hours is recommended.
This powerful and structured Rioja is ideal for a sophisticated dinner, a celebratory event, or for those looking to cellar a fine Spanish red. It is ready to drink now but will continue to evolve beautifully through 2035.
Food pairing suggestions include roasted red meats, Iberian cured ham, lamb chops with herbs, game dishes, and aged Manchego cheese.
