FEATURES
The 1990 Château Margaux is a legendary vintage, born from a mild winter, benevolent spring rains, a dry but not scorching summer, and an Indian summer that ensured optimal ripeness. This series of fortunate events culminated in a harvest etched into viticultural history for its calm and equanimity. Robert Parker famously rated this wine 100 points, considering it the quintessential example of the chateau. It presents an opaque ruby/purple color. The bouquet is gorgeous and ethereal, with sumptuous red berry fruit, leather, camphor, licorice, spring flowers, sweet red and black fruits, cedar, spices, smoke, and vanilla. On the palate, it is soft, sensual, and incredibly deep, fleshy and corpulent for Margaux, yet brimming with breeding and finesse. Layers of red fruit, kirsch, sage, fig, tobacco, and cloves unfold, with a beautifully balanced structure, pure black fruit, keen acidity, and a harmonious finish, sometimes with a touch of Earl Grey. It is profoundly concentrated, super-concentrated, soft, silky-textured, and opulent, with velvety tannins and ripe acids cloaked in a lavish, vibrant core of fruit. Despite low acidity, it offers opulent, full-bodied richness with laser-like precision. 【 Robert Parker 100 points 】
Serving advice: This magnificent 1990 vintage is at its peak, yet its harmony and swagger are captivating. For a wine of this age, expect some bottle variation. The cork may be fragile, so a Durand opener or similar two-pronged cork puller is highly recommended. Decanting for approximately 3 hours is suggested to allow its complex aromas to fully unfold and to separate any sediment. Handle the bottle gently to avoid disturbing the sediment. Serve at a cellar temperature of around 16-18°C (60-64°F) in large Bordeaux glasses.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions: This exquisite Bordeaux pairs wonderfully with a classic Pork Crown Roast.
🥂 Event suggestions: An extraordinary choice for a milestone anniversary, a significant celebration, or a serious wine tasting among connoisseurs. It is just beginning to reach its plateau of full maturity and has decades of longevity ahead, making it suitable for immediate enjoyment or further cellaring.
