🏰 The 2019 Baron Thenard Montrachet Grand Cru is a highly anticipated white Burgundy, hailing from a vintage that is widely regarded as 【exceptional for both red and white wines in Burgundy, offering a rare combination of richness, concentration, and vibrant acidity】. While specific tasting notes for this particular bottling are limited due to its prestige and youth, 2019 Montrachet Grand Cru wines are generally celebrated for their power, depth, and remarkable balance. The growing season was warm, but cool nights and timely rainfall ensured freshness and complexity. Expect a profound aromatic profile of white flowers, ripe citrus, stone fruits, and a distinctive minerality, often complemented by subtle oak nuances and a long, persistent finish. This wine is built for long-term aging.
🍴 This magnificent Montrachet Grand Cru calls for equally refined culinary partners. Consider pairing it with luxurious seafood such as grilled turbot with beurre blanc, pan-seared scallops, or roasted chicken with truffles. It also harmonizes beautifully with rich, creamy cheeses like Epoisses or a well-aged Comté.
🥂 This is a wine destined for grand celebrations, significant anniversaries, or as a centerpiece for a serious wine tasting. Its youth suggests immense aging potential, making it a superb addition to a collector's cellar. Serve lightly chilled, around 12-14°C (54-57°F), to allow its intricate layers to unfold. While enjoyable now, it will undoubtedly gain further complexity and nuance with several more years in the bottle.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Baron Thenard Although based in Givry, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) south, Domaine Baron Thénard is the largest of the famous Le Montrachet Grand Cru One of the vine owners, the winery was founded in the mid-19th century, but the family allegedly owns vineyards that date back to the last century. Until the Count in the 2000s, Baron Ténard had close links with Burgundy négociant Remoissenet, with much of his product bottled by the house. Today, most of the winery's wines are bottled under its own label.
