FEATURES
🏰 The 2010 vintage for Chateau La Mission Haut Brion was marked by a dry year with an arid summer, the driest since 1949, which led to highly concentrated grapes. Cool nights during the growing season promoted the accumulation of anthocyanins, resulting in red wines with deep color. This vintage is widely considered a "colossal giant" and one of the greatest wines in the estate's history, with a remarkable potential to age for 50 to 75 years. The blend for this powerful red wine was 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc, achieving 15% natural alcohol.
This wine exhibits a striking, deep-purple color. The nose is intense and complex, offering a seemingly endless range of aromas including iodine, stones, currant, wet earth, mushroom, lead pencil shavings, charcoal embers, blueberry, blackberry liqueur, blackcurrant, liquorice, chocolate, sweet cigar, tobacco, scorched earth, graphite, minty herbs, candied violets, red roses, and smoked meats. On the palate, it is full-bodied, powerful, and hedonistic, showcasing immense depth, firm yet polished tannins, and exquisite freshness. The finish is monumental and epic in length. 【 Robert Parker famously called it a "colossal giant" of the vintage and "an amazing wine," while James Suckling awarded it a perfect 100 points. 】
🍴 For food pairings, this robust Bordeaux is highly recommended with beef and venison. It also pairs exceptionally well with other red meats and hard cheeses. Given its richness and structured profile, consider roasted lamb, duck confit, or earthy vegetables such as beetroot carpaccio.
🥂 This collectible wine is perfect for significant celebrations, high-end corporate dinners, or as a cornerstone addition to a serious Bordeaux collection. Its exceptional longevity makes it an ideal choice for cellaring and enjoying at future milestones.
