FEATURES
Thierry Germain, a sixth-generation winemaker from Bordeaux, established Domaine des Roches Neuves in 1992 in the Anjou region, quickly becoming recognized as one of his generation's greatest winemakers. The estate, founded in 1850, is known for producing plot-based wines that precisely reflect their terroir. Domaine des Roches Neuves practices organic and biodynamic viticulture, certified by Ecocert and Biodyvin, with soils worked by horse and natural grass cover maintained in the vineyards. Thierry Germain is noted for his focus on terroir and biodynamics, and his son Louis is gradually taking over the reins. He prefers to release his wines young, believing they offer a unique vitality.
The 2022 Saumur Champigny Les Roches Neuves 'Les Mémoires' is a powerful and intense expression of Saumur-Champigny, stemming from an 80-are clos of old Cabernet Franc vines planted in 1904 on flint and limestone scree. The wine exhibits an intense, concentrated ruby color. The nose unveils subtle minty nuances mingled with notes of red fruit liqueur, wild strawberry, cherry, spiced plums, currants, dried herbs, stones, white pepper, and undergrowth. On the palate, it is powerful from the attack, with a substance that showcases the potential of a great terroir. It offers juicy, dark cherry fruit, elegant with fine tannins, delicately salty, and a fruity, sweet aftertaste, with good complexity and a lively structure. It's described as refined, with a crisp core of sour cherries and a salivating, peppery, and crunchy finish. This wine has significant aging potential.
🍴 Les Mémoires pairs perfectly with red meats or game. Its savory and classic profile also makes it an excellent match for beef and venison.
🥂 This wine is ideal for a sophisticated dinner, a gathering with friends who appreciate biodynamic wines, or as a thoughtful gift for a connoisseur of Loire Valley Cabernet Franc. Its aging potential also makes it suitable for cellaring for future enjoyment. 【Benchmark Loire Cabernet Franc】
