FEATURES
The 2005 Ruffino Modus Toscana IGT is a Super Tuscan blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 25% Merlot, showcasing a modern style with significant bottle development. It presents a dark ruby color with a brick rim and offers inviting aromas of black currants, blueberries, earth, forest floor, tobacco, and Mediterranean spices, complemented by hints of coffee and leather. On the palate, it is full-bodied, smooth, and elegant, with stewed blackberries, licorice, and a long, tangy finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries. This vintage, while showing age, retains great complexity and a yummy mouthfeel, with spicy, earthy, and vegetal notes. 【A tasty Italian Super Tuscan with great complexity】. Serving advice for this 2005 vintage: Given its age, this wine should be handled with care. Stand the bottle upright for at least 24 hours before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Decanting is highly recommended for 30-60 minutes to allow the wine to open up and shed any bottle-aged aromas, but be mindful of older corks and capsules which can be fragile. Use a Durand or an Ah-So opener for best results. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F). This wine is delicious on its own or with food. It pairs wonderfully with versatile meat dishes like Bistecca alla Fiorentina, beef Wellington, or braised short rib ragù. It also complements a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses, or even a surprising pairing like tomato soup with herbed ricotta. Event suggestions include a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary celebration, or a cozy evening by the fireplace with aged cheeses.
