FEATURES
The 2017 Gilles Berlioz Mondeuse La Deuse Vin de Savoie comes from an iconic grower in Savoie, Gilles Berlioz, whose estate, now known as Domaine Partagé, has been certified biodynamic by Demeter since 2005. He is known for his meticulous work, even employing horses in the vineyards. This particular cuvée, La Deuse, is the estate's sole Mondeuse offering, celebrated for its purity, minerality, and delicate expression of the grape. The winemaking process involves a two-week semi-carbonic maceration of whole bunches in a sealed vat, followed by fermentation and aging in fiberglass, ensuring a true reflection of the terroir.
On the nose, expect a powerful, vegetal bouquet with prominent notes of raspberry, blackcurrant, and bay leaf, complemented by spicy undertones of white pepper, licorice, and cocoa. The palate is full-bodied, showcasing a fine yet present tannic structure and vibrant fruit, with direct expressions of wild berries, country flowers, and black pepper, culminating in a gourmandise finish. Mondeuse typically offers deep color, lively acidity, firm tannins, and moderate alcohol, with a flavor profile that includes sour cherry, blackberry, raspberry, damson, black pepper, alpine herbs, violet, mint, juniper, earth, and graphite, often ending with a distinctive bitter cherry note. 【One of the finest Mondeuse producers of his generation, certified biodynamic】.
