Didier Dagueneau's Jurançon Moelleux Les Jardins de Babylone is a highly acclaimed sweet wine, crafted from 100% Petit Manseng grapes grown in a unique amphitheater vineyard with panoramic views of the Pyrenees. The 2019 vintage, like others, is known for its purity and precision, made in tiny quantities from ridiculously low yields. The low yields and warmth of the site allow for early picking, yet the wine typically retains around 125g/L residual sugar, perfectly balanced by mouth-watering, tangy acidity, resulting in fabulous verve and drive. This wine is considered one of the world's great sweet wines.
Tasting notes describe a thick, liqueur-like wine with strong sweetness and a solid streak of acidity that brings brightness. Aromas of orange peels and honeysuckle are prominent on the nose, while the palate reveals flavors of pineapple, tropical fruits, tangerine, and Grand Marnier, with spice and nuts on the long finish. It's layered and pulpy with ripe stone fruit shot through with crystalline grapefruit and orange rind freshness. Despite its depth, it remains delicate and fresh. 【Exceptional balance of sweetness and acidity with incredible aging potential】.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions for this sweet wine include fruity desserts, blue cheese, and mature and hard cheese. Its complexity also makes it a delightful aperitif or a contemplative digestif.
🥂 This wine is ideal for special celebrations, intimate gatherings, or as a luxurious end to a fine meal. It's a wine to be savored slowly, appreciating its intricate layers and remarkable balance.
