FEATURES
The 2015 vintage in Northern Rhône was hailed by Marcel Guigal as "the vintage of a lifetime," comparable to legendary years. It was a hot vintage, producing concentrated wines with remarkable freshness. La Turque is one of Guigal's three single-vineyard "La Las" crus, considered the jewels in Guigal's crown and instrumental in establishing Côte-Rôtie's international fine wine reputation. La Turque was re-planted in 1980 and 1981, with its first magnificent vintage in 1985. It is situated on a steep slope with perfect southern exposure, the only vineyard in Côte-Rôtie to see the first rays of sunshine from morning through dusk. The wine is aged for around 42 months in 100% new oak barrels, a signature of Guigal's "La Las" wines.
Enchanting ruby red in color with pretty dark reflections. It offers a powerful, elegant, and "sexy" perfume of red berries, morello cherry, and blackberry. Aromas also include toasted vanilla, espresso, Asian spices, mocha, pepper, creosote, grilled meats, smoke, leather, earthy notes, violet, and perfume. On the palate, it delivers classic notes of cassis, caramelized berries, spice, toasted brioche, exotic black fruits, chocolate, and hints of game. It exhibits beautiful harmony between concentration and the finesse of fine tannins, with a rich and concentrated palate.
Food pairing suggestions: Pairs well with wok-fried wagyu beef and morel mushroom. Generally, it's excellent with grilled meats, game, and rich, savory dishes.
Event suggestions: A superb choice for a celebratory dinner, a vertical tasting of "La Las" wines, or as a prestigious gift. This wine is known for its consistency and exceptional quality, capable of aging for decades.
