FEATURES
The 2015 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline comes from a vintage Marcel Guigal himself declared "the vintage of a lifetime," placing it alongside legendary years like 1929, 1949, 1955, and 1961. This nearly perfect vintage resulted in wines with an "utterly perfect balance of charm, complexity, and power". La Mouline, historically the oldest vineyard site in Côte-Rôtie with vines averaging 90 years, is often considered the most "feminine" of Guigal's Côte-Rôties due to its lighter soils and 11% Viognier co-fermentation.
This wine presents a deep ruby red to saturated purple color. It is intensely aromatic, powerful yet refined, offering a bouquet of small red fruits, blackberry, violet, ripe blackberries, blood plums, fragrant spices, dark stones, roasted coffee, crème de cassis, graphite, crushed rocks, cedar, vanilla, espresso, grilled meat, caramelized plum, and cassis. On the palate, it is supple, full-bodied, and plush, with a voluptuous texture and explosive richness, showcasing balance, elegance, and length. It features velvety tannins, a vibrant structure, and a long finish with notes of singed alder, warm earth, and smoldering tobacco.
Food Pairing: This exceptional wine pairs beautifully with BBQ Spareribs with BBQ sauce, Hard aged cheese (Parmesan, Gouda, Pecorino), Grilled Duck, Wild Mushrooms, Grilled or Stewed Lamb, Sausage, Pepper Steak, Grilled or Roasted Venison. It also complements Beef, Poultry, and Game (deer, venison).
Fit to Event: Described as a magical wine in the making, it is incredibly long-lived, with a recommended drinking window from 2025 through 2045. It represents pure class and one of the best vintages ever. This makes it an ideal choice for significant celebrations, a prized addition to a collector's cellar, or a truly memorable fine dining experience. 【Hailed by Marcel Guigal as "the vintage of a lifetime" and receiving near-perfect scores (99 James Suckling, 98+ Jeb Dunnuck, 98 Robert Parker, 98 Wine Spectator), this wine embodies pure class and exceptional longevity.】
