FEATURES
The 2019 Domaine Raspail-Ay Gigondas is a superb red wine from the Southern Rhône, widely praised as one of the greatest wines of the appellation in this vintage. The 2019 vintage in Burgundy (and by extension, Rhône, given similar warm conditions) was generally excellent, producing complex, richly fruit-forward, and refined reds. This Gigondas is an artful blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre, aged for 18 to 24 months in old oak casks. It's known for balancing elegance and texture with power and depth of flavor, despite its 15% alcohol content. The wine presents an intense ruby color. On the nose, it offers incredibly complex notes of garrigue, flowers, leather, black olive, and mostly red fruits like black raspberry and kirsch, mingling with exotic spices and subtle hints of violet and rose. The palate is full-bodied, dense, and structured, with ripe, round tannins and lovely acidity, delivering deep and energetic red and blue fruit flavors. It has a vibrant, long finish, promising a decade or more of drinking pleasure. While enjoyable young, it can be cellared for 7 to 15 years to develop more spicy and peppery notes. 【One of the greatest wines of the Gigondas appellation in 2019, offering exceptional complexity and aging potential】.
Food pairing suggestions: This full-bodied red is a fantastic companion to rich, savory dishes. It pairs perfectly with grilled meats, especially lamb and chicken served Provençal style with rosemary, thyme, garlic, and black pepper. Other excellent pairings include beef stew, game, cheese, lobster ravioli, duck breast, roast quail, and thick sausage and bean-laden cassoulets. For an Eastern match, consider Cantonese roast goose, braised beef brisket, or a rich lamb curry.
Event suggestions: Ideal for a hearty dinner with friends, a special family gathering, or a wine club tasting focusing on Rhône wines. Its aging potential also makes it a great addition to a cellar for future enjoyment on special occasions.
