FEATURES
The 2023 vintage in Burgundy, from which this Guy Bocard Meursault Genevrieres 1er Cru hails, experienced a period of cooler, rainy weather in mid-July, though a localized hailstorm in Meursault caused minimal lasting damage. Harvest commenced around early September. For white wines, significant evaporation led to unexpectedly concentrated wines, with alcohol levels reaching 13.5-14% ABV, and winemakers utilized bâtonnage to enhance richness. The grapes were notably clean, contributing to the vintage's excellent freshness and energy in the whites. Domaine Guy Bocard, a historic Meursault estate, is undergoing a revitalization under the Derichebourg family, who acquired it in 2018 and achieved full organic certification with the 2022 vintage. Renowned winemaker Philippe Pacalet is now advising the estate.

Early tasting notes for 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières describe it as ripe, full, and airy with exotic florals, open and rich, yet finishing fine, tight, and lightly piercing. Aromas include ripe apple, quince, and apricot, touched with gingery spice and a saline mineral quality. The wine presents a dense and rich texture, balanced by surprising racy acidity. Expect notes of honeysuckle and wild herbs, alongside a richness and hint of honey. It is medium-bodied with a compact structure, leading to a long, succulent, and polished finish. The color is a mid-lemon, with a lifted, tingling fresh herb aspect.
