🏰 While Jean Claude Ramonet is renowned for his exceptional white Burgundies, his Coteaux-Bourguignons 2020 is a red wine offering an 【accessible yet quality expression of Burgundy's regional blend】. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy was generally excellent for reds, yielding wines with good concentration and freshness. This red wine, typically a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay, would likely present vibrant notes of fresh red fruits like cherry and raspberry, with subtle earthy undertones and a hint of spice. The palate is usually light to medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a refreshing acidity, making it very approachable in its youth.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing: This versatile紅酒 (red wine) would be delightful with Cantonese dim sum, especially char siu bao or siu mai. For a Western pairing, consider charcuterie boards, roasted chicken, or lighter pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces.
🥂 fit for event suggestion: Perfect for everyday enjoyment, casual gatherings with friends, or as a versatile companion for a wide range of meals. It's a great introduction to the quality of the Ramonet estate in a more approachable style. Serve slightly chilled at 14-16°C (57-61°F).
BACKGROUND
Domaine Ramonet is a prominent wine producer in the Burgundy appellations of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, France. Ramonet owns more than 15 hectares (37 acres) of vineyards. The primary grape variety is Chardonnay, with a small amount of Pinot Noir also planted. The estate's most important wines are made from Chardonnay from the area's grand cru vineyards, and are highly collectible, often selling for high prices at auction. Domaine Ramonet makes several red wines from Pinot Noir as well. Domaine Ramonet is now run by Noël and Jean-Claude Ramonet, following the death of their father Pierre in the mid-1990s.
