Forey Pere & Fils, Vosne Romanee, 1998
Red
750ml
Label : Very Slightly Bin Stained Soiled Label
Level : Neck Level Filled
The 1998 Forey Pere & Fils Vosne Romanee hails from a vintage known for its tannic structure in youth, which has now softened to reveal a more nuanced character. Régis Forey, who took the reins in 1989, is celebrated for crafting wines of exceptional concentration and depth. This red Burgundy, made from Pinot Noir, typically presents a deep cherry red hue. On the nose, expect sweet notes of toasted oak and cooking red cherries, evolving into a palate that is surprisingly rich and sweet, balanced by good acidity and velvety tannins. Red fruit notes like cherry, strawberry, and raspberry are prominent, complemented by earthy undertones of leather and forest floor, and hints of oak, clove, and vanilla.
Serving a wine of this age requires a gentle touch. Old corks can be fragile, so consider using a specialized opener. Decanting for an hour or two can help it open up and separate from any sediment, but be cautious as very old wines can sometimes fade quickly. Serve at a cellar temperature of 16-18°C (60-64°F) to best appreciate its evolved aromas and flavors.
🍴 This mature Vosne Romanee is a superb match for classic French cuisine such as roasted duck with cherry sauce, game birds like pheasant or partridge, or mushroom-rich dishes. It also pairs beautifully with aged Comté or Gruyère cheese.
🥂 This wine is ideal for a special anniversary dinner, a sophisticated gathering of wine connoisseurs, or a quiet evening of contemplative enjoyment. Its age and complexity make it a truly memorable experience. 【Exceptional concentration and depth from Régis Forey's winemaking style combined with the age-worthiness of the 1998 vintage】
