FEATURES
The 2014 Harlan Estate The Maiden comes from a Napa Valley vintage that has emerged as superb and is currently at its peak. Despite being overshadowed by the critically acclaimed 2013 vintage, the 2014s are generally more developed and drinking superbly now, offering a gregarious and fun style with flirty floral and savory nuances, and red berry highlights. The growing season began with a dry January, followed by good rainfall in February, and then remained very dry. An early bud break occurred due to February rains and a warm March, with no heat spikes during summer and autumn. Harvest was early, with most Cabernet Sauvignon picked in September and October under warm, sunny conditions. The vintage is noted for its high quality, depth of flavor, and excellent expectations, with wines showing a wonderful aromatic tension, balanced palate, and vivid finish.
【A superb Napa Valley vintage that is at its peak today】 The Maiden, as Harlan Estate's second wine, is sourced from the same vineyards and vinified similarly to the flagship wine, offering a more approachable experience in its youth while retaining the estate's strength and the vintage's finesse. It reveals refined aromas of dark and red fruit, subtle earthy notes, tea leaf, and gentle hints of citrus, bringing freshness and lift. Tasting notes describe incredible floral and walnut undertones with a bright berry and currant character, being very aromatic and refined. It is full-bodied with very fine tannins and a bright, long, fresh finish. Other descriptors include exotic spice, potpourri, red and black currants, cedar chest, cloves, and menthol, with a lovely velvety texture and great freshness. The wine is rich in flavor yet remarkably approachable, with a smooth texture and a lingering finish.
🍴 Food Pairing: This bold and structured red Bordeaux blend pairs excellently with beef and venison. Its rich fruit and fine tannins also make it suitable for roasted meats and hearty stews.
🥂 Event Fit: The 2014 The Maiden is drinking exceptionally well now, making it ideal for immediate enjoyment at upscale dinners, celebratory gatherings, or as a sophisticated gift. Its structure also allows for further cellaring for those who prefer more aged characteristics.
