FEATURES
The 2017 Gramenon Côtes du Rhône La Mémé (also known as Ceps Centenaires La Meme) is a red wine primarily made from Grenache grapes, sourced from century-old vines. This flagship cuvée from Domaine Gramenon is celebrated for its power, complexity, and breed. The wine is characterized by wild side, red fruit, and big power. Tasting notes from the community describe it as very elegant, with fresh fruits and nice acidity, sometimes compared to a Rayas style. Other descriptions include leathery, dark red fruits, and lots of tannins, even after decanting. It can also present notes of blackberry, wild herbs, particularly thyme, tobacco, cedar, clove, plum, berry jam, blueberry, nutty, molasses, peanut, potpourri, violet, apple, green apple, cheese, tomato, dried fruit, and orange. The wine is organically and biodynamically farmed. 【 The estate's flagship cuvée and its century-old vines 】 It is recommended to wait at least 1 to 2 years after bottling to open it, with an aging period of 10 to 15 years depending on the vintage. Decanting is recommended.
🍴 Food Pairing: This powerful Southern Rhône Red wine is an excellent match for roast white meats, braised dishes, and red sauce-based meals. Given its complexity and fruit-forward nature, it would also pair well with rabbit with prunes.
🥂 Event Suggestion: The 2017 Gramenon La Mémé is a wine that benefits from some aging, with its peak estimated between 2024 and 2031. Decanting is recommended to fully appreciate its depth.
