The 2020 Thierry Allemand Cornas Reynard is hailed as a legendary Cornas in the making, with some experts anticipating a perfect rating in a decade. This iconic Northern Rhône Syrah is known for its profound yet elegantly haunting character. The wine presents a saturated purple hue and boasts incredible aromatics of cassis, liquid violets, new leather, and bloody, iron, meaty nuances. On the palate, it delivers full-bodied richness, building tannins, and flawless overall balance, with a massive, backward style that suggests significant aging potential. Vinous describes it as spectacular, loaded with pristine graphite, cassis pastilles, crushed rocks, and black plum notes, framed by polished tannins and stunning freshness. Thierry Allemand is celebrated for revitalizing Cornas, championing organic farming and a focus on balanced, high-quality wines. 【A legendary Cornas in the making, poised for a perfect rating.】
🍴 Food Pairing: This magnificent wine is superb with game, slow-braised beef, or simply contemplated on its own. It would also pair beautifully with grilled steaks.
🥂 Event Suggestions: Ideal for a special occasion dinner, a serious wine tasting among connoisseurs, or as a cellar addition for long-term aging and future enjoyment.
BACKGROUND
Thierry Allemand is a leading producer of wines from the Syrah grape in the Cornas region of the Northern Rhone Valley. Renowned for their varietal expression and velvety texture, the wines have a loyal following and the estate was formed by Alleman starting in the 1980s by purchasing large areas of small abandoned land. Less than 5 hectares (12 acres) in size. Only 500 cases of the top Les Chaillots and Reynard cuvées are available, always in short supply.
