FEATURES
The 2014 Château Musar Rouge hails from Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, a region with a rich and storied viticultural history. The vintage was marked by very low rainfall and a lack of snow in the mountains, leading to vines suffering by early August. Despite these challenges, the Cinsault grape proved resilient, and careful winemaking, including fermentation in concrete vats and 12 months aging in French oak, resulted in a wine bottled without fining or filtration. The wines were released in 2021 after seven years of aging in the Chateau Musar cellars.
Tasting notes for the 2014 Château Musar Rouge describe a deep red color with aromas of sweet cherry, plum, and dried fruit, complemented by subtle spice and a hint of tobacco. It offers a soft, rounded mouthfeel with abundant flavor and fruit concentration, featuring notes of caramel, mocha, and ripe red fruits, supported by soft, velvety tannins and a spicy finish. Other descriptions include a classic Musar nose with delicate volatile nuances, evolving with air towards ripe heart cherry fruit, fine floral notes, liquorice, violet, and dried pear. It is full-bodied with good complexity, ripe plum, fine tannins, and good freshness, showing length and a mineral, persistent, sweet aftertaste. 【A wine with extraordinary aging potential, capable of cellaring for another fifteen to twenty years.】
Food pairing suggestions for Château Musar Rouge include grilled short ribs, where the wine's structure, tannins, and ripe fruit beautifully cut through the richness. It also pairs well with Manchego and Parmesan cheeses.
