FEATURES
The 2018 vintage for Pommard was notably warm and dry, with some intense storms, which led to reduced yields but exceptionally high quality for red wines. Lebreuil's Pommard Les Vignots hails from a renowned village appellation site, often considered to possess Premier Cru quality due to its unique terroir. The name "Vignots" itself means "the vines on high," referencing its elevated, south-facing parcel that ensures intense ripening. The soil, a mix of rocky limestone and clay, provides excellent airflow and drainage, contributing to the wine's distinctive character.
This full-bodied Pinot Noir displays a bright, dark ruby red or deep garnet hue. On the nose, it's powerful, revealing fine aromas of blackcurrant, black, and red berries, complemented by hints of damp clay and mossy forest floor. The palate offers lovely intensity and beautiful elegance, with dark berry and earthy notes, alongside complex flavours of minerality and red fruits, all integrated with oak aging. Wines from Les Vignots are celebrated for their elegance and aromatics, with tannins that are surprisingly approachable even in their youth.
Food pairing suggestions include all red meats, whether grilled or roasted in sauce, spicy or peppery dishes, and hearty stews like lamb or chicken. It also pairs wonderfully with a mushroom risotto or a selection of strong cheeses such as Epoisses, Langes, Soumaintrain, and Comté.
【Renowned village appellation site often considered Premier Cru quality】 This wine is enjoyable upon release but also boasts significant aging potential, capable of developing beautifully over 10-12 years. It's a versatile choice for special dinners, gatherings with friends, or any occasion calling for a superb red Burgundy.
