FEATURES
The 2018 René Bouvier Vosne-Romanée (rouge) is a distinguished expression from Domaine René Bouvier, sourced from a 0.50-hectare plot of 55-year-old vines on the appellation's southern slope, characterized by clay and stony colluvium soil. The estate's philosophy is to allow each plot to truly express its unique terroir. Depending on the vintage, they employ 50% whole-bunch fermentation, with the wine aging for approximately 18 months in barrels, 20% of which are new. 【This complex and sensual wine possesses true elegance, supported by discreet yet structured tannins, reflecting its 55-year-old vines and specific Vosne-Romanée plot.】
This Vosne-Romanée displays shades of red from pure ruby to black tulip, often intense, or a fiery red darkening to garnet. The elegant nose unfolds with ripe black fruit and floral hints of violet, crowned by a delicate touch of spices. Aromas of candied fruit and spices are also prominent. On the palate, the attack is supple and velvety, offering a rich consistency that is both lively and alert, with a pleasing viscosity. With age, these refined aromas evolve into notes of cherries-in-brandy, preserved fruits, leather, fur, and gamey/woodland scents.
🍴 Food Pairing: This wine is remarkably versatile, pairing well with milk-fed veal chops with black truffle slices, layered aubergines and sun-dried tomatoes, or a lamb navarin. It also complements strongly-flavoured meats with a fibrous consistency, such as patiently oven-roasted lamb, roast feathered game, or thick cuts of lean, firm-textured beef. For cheese lovers, it's an excellent match for intensely-flavoured cheeses like Soumaintrain, Epoisses, Langres, or Aisy cendré.
🥂 Fit for Event: An ideal choice for connoisseurs who appreciate the rare, full-bodied, and elegant wines of Vosne-Romanée. While built for aging, it can be enjoyed in its youth (within 5 years) by decanting for an hour before serving, making it suitable for sophisticated gatherings or a memorable dinner.
