FEATURES
The Marcel Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Camille 2025 is a future vintage from the renowned Domaine Marcel Lapierre, a pioneer in the natural wine movement in Beaujolais. This prestige cuvée is named after Marcel's daughter, Camille, and also honours her grandfather, Marcel's father, Camille, signifying a passing down of expertise and passion. It is crafted from old Gamay vines grown on a small, iconic parcel on the Côte du Py, known for its shallow granitic soil. The vines are certified organic.
While specific tasting notes for the 2025 vintage are not yet available, the Cuvée Camille generally undergoes traditional Beaujolais semi-carbonic maceration without added SO2 or inoculation, followed by ageing in old wooden barrels. Past vintages are known for fresh red fruit aromas, often with floral notes, and a lovely length. They typically exhibit a medium body with light fruit and crushed stones, offering a pure, crisp, and delicious profile with low sulphur. Expect complex notes of bark, dried flowers, wild cherries, and lemon rind, with hints of clove, leading to a long, savoury finish. The wines are often bottled unfiltered but lightly sulphited, with some 'N' (Nature) bottles being entirely sans soufre.
🍴 This versatile red wine pairs well with roast white meats, braised dishes, meaty fish, and red sauces. It is also an excellent accompaniment to chicken, turkey, veal, pork, pasta, and cured meats.
🥂 The Cuvée Camille is suitable for those who appreciate natural wines and Beaujolais with ageing potential. Marcel Lapierre wines generally benefit from decanting a few hours before tasting. While the 2025 vintage is yet to be released, previous vintages suggest good ageing potential, often recommended for medium-long maturation. 【A prestige cuvée named after Marcel's daughter Camille, from old Gamay vines on the iconic Côte du Py, embodying the natural wine philosophy.】
