FEATURES
The 1998 Gros Frère et Soeur Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru is a mature red Burgundy from a renowned family estate. 【A generous and structured Grand Cru Pinot Noir from a renowned Burgundian family, offering a silky, voluptuous texture with age.】 Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur, part of the esteemed Gros family, has a history rooted in Vosne-Romanée, with Bernard Gros steering the house style towards more expressive and concentrated wines since 1984. Grands Echezeaux is one of their prized Grand Cru parcels. At 28 years old, this wine is well into its mature phase. Expect tertiary aromas and flavors to have developed, moving beyond primary fruit to notes of forest floor, leather, and spice. While still offering pleasure, older wines can be more fragile and delicate. Be mindful of older corks, which can be brittle; a good quality Durand or Ah-So opener is recommended. Inspect the capsule for any signs of leakage. Gentle handling is key. Decanting for a short period (30-60 minutes) might be beneficial to allow the wine to breathe and shed any sediment, but avoid excessive aeration which could cause it to fade quickly. Serve at cellar temperature (around 16-18°C or 60-64°F). Tasting notes for Gros Frère et Soeur Echezeaux generally highlight red fruit notes like cherry, raspberry, and strawberry, alongside oaky nuances of vanilla and clove, and earthy undertones of mushroom and forest floor. Further complexity can include licorice, pepper, cinnamon, plum, dark fruit, and floral notes. The finest cuvées are known to be generous and structured, requiring time to evolve into balanced, harmonious wines with a silky, voluptuous texture. 🍴 Food pairing suggestions: This mature Pinot Noir is an excellent match for classic Burgundian pairings such as duck, goose, and other game birds. Its evolving complexity would also complement dishes with earthy components like mushroom risottos or truffle-infused poultry. 🥂 Event suggestions: This 1998 Grands Echezeaux is ideal for a contemplative dinner among connoisseurs, a significant anniversary, or a special gathering where the wine itself is a focal point, offering a real moment of emotion.
