FEATURES
The 2000 Clos de Tart Grand Cru from Du Clos de Tart (then owned by the Mommessin family) is a magnificent expression from Burgundy's largest Grand Cru monopole. The millennium vintage in Burgundy was blessed with ideal conditions, balancing sunshine and rain, yielding perfectly ripe Pinot Noir grapes with excellent tension. This 100% Pinot Noir wine is a testament to the estate's legacy of producing top-tier red Burgundy.
Tasting notes describe the 2000 Clos de Tart as having a surprisingly deep crimson color. The nose is gamey, exotic, and rich, with a very sweet and flattering character, evolving into a symphony of deep red fruits, subtle earthy undertones, and a a whisper of sous-bois, suggesting complexities developed through age. While some found the bouquet initially shallow compared to other vintages, it compensates with brightness and precision, offering a joyous aromatic profile. The palate is medium-bodied, often surpassing the nose, with pleasant, fleshy red fruit, spicy and peppery notes, a linear structure, and a long finish. It's noted for its lovely balance, silky-soft tannins, and great freshness. By 2025, it was described as drinking at its peak, with resolved and integrated tannins, lingering red fruits, subtle acidity, and tertiary notes of soil/wood.

🥂 This mature Grand Cru is perfect for a truly special occasion, a milestone anniversary, or a serious wine tasting among connoisseurs. Its elegance and complexity make it a profound experience.
Given its age, this 2000 vintage is a delicate treasure. Old corks can be fragile, so use a Durand or an Ah-So opener. Decanting is highly recommended for 30-60 minutes to allow the wine to breathe and shed any sediment, but be gentle to preserve its delicate aromas. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F), in large Burgundy glasses.
🍴 Pair this exquisite red Burgundy with classic dishes such as roasted duck with lentils and caramelized apple, or other game birds. Its savory and classic profile also complements duck and goose beautifully.
