The 2008 Zind Humbrecht Riesling Clos Windsbuhl is a superb expression from a legendary Alsace winery, widely acknowledged for crafting magical wines. This particular vintage, from grapes picked in mid-October, showcases the unique capacity of the Windsbuhl vineyard to maintain healthy grapes and acidity through long maturation, allowing the soil character to fully develop. 【A benchmark Riesling from a biodynamic Alsace Grand Cru vineyard】. The wine presents a nose of racy minerals and citrus fruit, with an obvious sense of rocks and soil. On the palate, it is delicate, long, and intense, with great ripe acidity and a silken texture. Notes of gooseberry, fresh white peach, citrus oils, and white truffle are present, leading to a strikingly persistent, bittersweet finish with copious salt and chalk.
Food Pairing: This Riesling is wonderfully versatile. It pairs beautifully with seafood like sea bream or cod, as well as richer poultry dishes, pork, or even spicy Asian cuisine. Its mineral acidity also makes it a great match for goat cheese.
Event Suggestions: Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a wine tasting focused on Alsace or Riesling, or as an impressive gift for a white wine enthusiast. Its aging potential also makes it suitable for cellaring and enjoying over the next decade or two.
