Henri Bonneau, Chateauneuf Du Pape Reserve Des Celestins, 2006
🏰 The 2006 vintage in the Southern Rhône saw warm, dry conditions in June and July. Henri Bonneau's Réserve des Célestins, typically sourced from the ripe fruit of La Crau's boulder-strewn plateau, is a testament to the 12th-generation grower's mastery. This wine is renowned for its powerful, old-school style, showcasing superb ripeness and a fleshy mid-palate. It's a textbook Châteauneuf-du-Pape that drinks beautifully now and has excellent aging potential. 【 A powerful, old-school Châteauneuf-du-Pape from a legendary 12th-generation grower 】.
This vintage presents a dense ruby/purple color. On the nose, it's incredibly old-school with loads of roasted Provencal herbs, meat juice, plum sauce, game, and licorice aromas. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with a full, fleshy mid-palate, superb ripeness, and a solid finish, showing wild strawberries, forest notes, and sweet cherries.
🥂 Perfect for a celebratory dinner or a gathering of Rhône wine enthusiasts. It's approachable now but will continue to evolve.
🍴 This Châteauneuf-du-Pape pairs magnificently with lamb, roasted game, beef fillet en croûte with mushrooms, or rich stews. For an Eastern pairing, consider it with slow-cooked red braised pork or a hearty Peking duck.
