FEATURES
The 2002 Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is a highly regarded Burgundy red, showcasing the elegance and power typical of its appellation and vintage. Critics have praised its intensity and complexity, with some noting it's maturing gracefully. Stephen Tanzer of Vinous described a "knockout nose" combining black fruits, minerals, and coffee, highlighting its richness and powerful nature. Other notes mention blackberry, hints of menthol, blood orange, quince, and a tightly coiled spring of spicy berry fruit. Wine Spectator awarded it 97 points, citing intense mint and menthol aromas leading into blackberry, cassis, and smoke flavors, with ample flesh and ripe tannins. 【A powerful and elegant Grand Cru with impressive depth and complexity】. This wine is known for its strong fruit, well-buffered tannins, and compelling length. 🍴 Food Pairing: This elegant Pinot Noir would be an excellent match for classic French cuisine, such as roasted duck breast, coq au vin, mushroom risotto, or delicate game birds. Its earthy and fruity notes will complement rich, savory dishes. 🥂 Event: Perfect for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion with fellow wine enthusiasts, or a sophisticated gathering where a truly expressive and age-worthy Burgundy is desired.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Perrot Minot is headquartered in Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits region, north of Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Red wine is mainly made from Pinot Noir. The history of the winery can be traced back to the "Domaine Merme-Morizot" at the end of the 19th century. In 1993, it was taken over by Christophe Perrot-Minot, who acquired Domaine Pernin-Rossin and its assets in 2000. In 1999, the domaine also began a négociant business, producing wine from fruit from its partner vineyards, including several Grand Cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin. The winery produces wine from seven Grand Cru vineyards, the most famous of which is Chambertin, as well as a series of First Growth vineyards. Yields are strictly limited and green harvesting is done in specific plots, so some vines can only produce five bunches of grapes.
