FEATURES
The 2017 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Grandes Vignes comes from a good vintage in Burgundy, characterized by a cool, dry winter and no frost, leading to healthy yields after several challenging years. Louis-Michel Liger-Belair began harvesting on September 3rd, ensuring optimal ripeness. This Premier Cru hails from the Clos des Grandes Vignes, a monopole vineyard in Premeaux with vines planted as early as the 1950s, farmed biodynamically. The vineyard features clay-loam soil with limestone scree over an oolitic limestone base, situated on an east/southeast-facing slope.
This is described as a true 'Pinot drinker's Pinot,' offering plush, easy-drinking flavours, smooth tannins, and a juicy, palate-caressing finish. On the nose, expect high-toned aromas of various flowers, essence of red cherry, and soft earth wisps, alongside sweet dark berries, black cherries, bitter chocolate, and a smoky topnote. The palate is deep, full-bodied, sappy, and soil-driven, with fine-grained tannins, excellent focus, and grip, delivering vibrant and delicious medium-weight flavours. It presents an elegant profile with supple tannins cloaked in succulent fruit. 【Outstanding rating by Burghound】.
