FEATURES
The 2023 vintage in the Mosel was a challenging yet ultimately rewarding year, producing exciting and incisive German Rieslings with remarkable poise and symmetry. It was a rollercoaster season with a wet start, followed by a very dry May, June, and July. Extensive rainfall from late July onwards, coupled with warm, humid conditions, presented challenges with powdery mildew and gray mold, necessitating strict selection during harvest. Despite these difficulties, careful selection and timely harvesting by dedicated growers resulted in sensational wines. Thomas Haag of Schloss Lieser noted the harvest demanded significant time and concentration, with every bunch requiring inspection, and about 25% of the fruit being discarded due to rot. The 2023 Mosel vintage is characterized by a breathtaking sense of harmony, offering a slightly riper and richer profile than the previous two vintages, with stubbornly long finishes. Noble botrytis arrived in early October, leading to a 'treasure hunt' for material for scintillating sweet wines, blessed with a depth and quality not seen since 2019. 【A stunning example of a challenging yet ultimately successful 2023 Mosel vintage, showcasing exceptional purity and harmony.】
