FEATURES
The 2022 Domaine Leflaive Pouilly-Fuissé La Chaneau comes from a vintage characterized by episodes of heat and drought, requiring meticulous monitoring to preserve the grapes' natural balance. Domaine Leflaive is an iconic 布根地 estate, a pioneer in biodynamics since 1997 under Anne-Claude Leflaive. The 'La Chaneau' lieu-dit, a tiny 0.68-acre parcel on steep clay-limestone slopes rich in iron, is meticulously cultivated using biodynamic Chardonnay grapes. The winemaking involves long, gentle pneumatic pressing, followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentations entirely in oak barrels, and extended aging for 15 to 16 months, including 12 months on lees in barrels. This white wine boasts beautiful substance and remarkable acidic tension, combining freshness, minerality, and textural richness. It is creamy yet lithe and well-delineated, with lively acidity. Flavors of peach, apple, and floral notes abound, complemented by flashes of butterscotch and pastry accents. Other tasting notes mention ripe apricot, apple tart, grapefruit, toasty oak, and a flinty mineral backbone, along with oak, butter, vanilla, citrus, lemon, lime, minerals, honey, stone, pear, cream, cheese, oil, hazelnut, almond, and toast. The wine's dense structure and careful aging give it singular energy and excellent cellaring potential. 【A pioneer in biodynamics since 1997, setting a benchmark for Burgundy.】
Food pairing suggestions include firm-fleshed fish (turbot, pike-perch, roasted sea bass) with lightly creamy sauces, pan-seared scallops, poultry dishes like roast chicken or chicken with cream and morels, and aged cheeses such as Comté, Brie, or Chaource.
This elegant Pouilly-Fuissé is perfect for a celebratory dinner, a special anniversary, or a sophisticated gathering where a complex and age-worthy white Burgundy is desired. Serve between 11 and 13°C, and consider aerating for half an hour to an hour to fully release its complexity.
