🏰 The 2013 Jean Yves Bizot Vosne Romanee is a 【gorgeously expressive red Burgundy, showcasing loads of Vosne spices and energetic organic red fruit】, from a cult producer renowned for his non-interventionist winemaking. Despite 2013 being a challenging vintage for Burgundy, Bizot made the most of it, producing wines that showed exceptionally well. The estate's philosophy involves fermenting whole clusters with ambient yeasts and aging in new French oak without racking, fining, or filtration, resulting in very small annual production. This wine offers a very floral nose with notes of red berries, violets, peony rose, and cinnamon, leading to an openly knit palate with lovely acidity, light-footed yet intense organic fruit, and great energy.
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, game birds, mushroom-based dishes, and delicate red meats like duck or veal.
🥂 An ideal choice for a special dinner, a focused Burgundy tasting, or an intimate gathering for wine enthusiasts who appreciate artisanal, low-intervention wines with a unique character.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean Yves Bizot is a small Burgundy wine producer located in the Côte de Nuits, making Pinot Noir on several small plots of the Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru vineyard and the Grand Cru chézeaux vineyard. It also produces small amounts of Chardonnay at the village and Burgundy Blanc levels, and has plots in Massanai and Burgundy Chapit. The total area of the estate is just over three hectares. The current incarnation of the domaine was founded in 1995, when Jean Yves Bizot, a professor of oenology, inherited the domaine and vineyards from his family and followed a largely unconventional winemaking process.
