FEATURES
The 2023 François Dumas Condrieu is a rare and natural Viognier from a cult natural vigneron in Véranne, Northern Rhône. François Dumas is celebrated for his radical, natural winemaking style, producing this wine in very limited quantities without added sulfur. He organically cultivates approximately 4 hectares of vines, employing spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and aging for 24 months in 400-litre barrels, without fining or added sulfur. With only around 1,600 bottles produced, this wine is highly sought after and difficult to find outside France. Uniquely, this Condrieu comes from alluvial soils of pebbles, silt, and clay, distinguishing it from his other high-altitude granite plots. 【Rare, natural Viognier from a cult natural vigneron, made in very few bottles without added sulfur, emphasizing finesse, freshness, and terroir transparency.】
The nose of the 2023 Condrieu opens with ripe apricot, vine peach, and a delicate floral hint of violet, characteristic of great Viognier. On the palate, the texture is creamy, almost caressing, yet a mineral undertone balances its generosity, keeping the wine taut and alive. The finish is long and persistent, revealing a subtle salinity. It beautifully combines sensuality and freshness. Other tasting notes mention clear, sharp characteristics, with delicious gourmet notes of yellow fruits and pear. The aging is subtly masterful, adding aromatic complexity and a slightly unctuous mouthfeel.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions: This Condrieu is perfectly suited for fine dining. It pairs excellently with pork, poultry, rich fish such as salmon or tuna, mature and hard cheeses, and cured meats.
🥂 Event suggestions: An excellent choice for connoisseurs of natural wines and those seeking authentic expressions of Viognier. Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party or a special meal where the wine can truly shine.
