FEATURES
The Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2004 is an exceptional Champagne, representing only the fifth vintage of this prestige cuvée released in 35 years. The 2004 vintage itself was outstanding for Chardonnay, yielding healthy, ripe grapes. This Blanc de Blancs is crafted exclusively from Chardonnay grapes sourced from five esteemed Crus in the Côte des Blancs—Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant, and Vertus—with each village contributing approximately 20% to the final blend. Notably, this Champagne spent an impressive 11 years on its lees before disgorgement in November 2016, undergoing its extensive ageing in the historic Gallo-Roman chalk cellars.
Visually, it presents a light golden hue with green reflections and a refined effervescence. On the nose, expect honeyed, biscuity, and creamy notes, alongside butter and crème brûlée, all while maintaining impeccable freshness. The palate offers a creamy, superfine chalk-dust texture with tightly packed, candied-citrus flavours, hints of ripe apple, apricot, nuts, and honey. It is generous, pure, and precise, underpinned by seamless acidity and a mineral and citrus zest backbone. Further complexities include cantaloupe, red apples, white peaches, dried figs, and nougat.
🍴 This versatile Champagne is an excellent pairing for codfish with risotto, wild mushrooms, and verjuice. It also complements classic oysters and shellfish, grilled whole fish dishes, Moroccan chicken couscous, or even a baked apple tart with vanilla cream.
🥂 The Blanc des Millénaires 2004 is a superb choice for celebrating milestones or for an exquisite gastronomic experience. Serve it gently chilled in a generous curved flute or aromatic wine glass at 9-11°C to best appreciate its nuances.
